MGM picks up screen rights to “Metro 2033” Russian sci-fi bestseller

MGM has acquired screen rights to “Metro 2033” a best-selling sci-fi novel by Russian author Dmitri Glukhovsky, TheWrap said.

The story follows one young man's journey through post-apocalyptic Moscow in 2033, where nuclear holocaust survivors are forced to navigate an unground world rife with mutants.

F. Scott Frazier, who penned "The Numbers Station" and "Line of Sight," will write the script, sources told TheWrap. "Metro," first published in 2005, has been translated into 35 languages and made into a video game.
