VLADIMIR KAZIMIROV: REAL CORRELATION OF FORCES DOES NOT LET AZERBAIJAN TO COUNT FOR QUICK SUCCESS WHEREAS NEW PROLONGED CONFLICT WILL LEAD TO FAILURE
The threats to resolve the Karabakh conflict by force is a bluff of internal political destination and a constant signal of dissatisfaction, reluctance to resign to losses and make serious concessions, Russian Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group in 1992-1996 Vladimir Kazimirov said in his interview placed on Yerkir.am website. He reminded that the attempts of Azeris to resolve the conflict by force in 1990ies were not a success. As result they had to agree on armistice without any preconditions in 1994. However it was certain politicians perceived it as forced pause. Real correlation of forces does not let Azerbaijan to count for quick success whereas new prolonged conflict will lead to failure. Militaristic threats contradict to Azerbaijan's international commitments and put the Azeri leadership in an awkward and even semi-ridiculous position. However the revanchism of Baku should not be neglected. Being extremely harmful it tenses the situation and impedes conduction of serious negotiations.
