Atatürk’s gun to be auctioned at Christie's

A Browning handgun that was custom-made for modern Turkey's founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, is now on the market for a price of 72,000 Turkish Liras, Hurriyet Daily News reported citing private broadcaster NTV.

Golden letters spell "General Mustafa Kemal" on the gun, which was made as a present to Atatürk from then-Argentinean President Marcelo Torcuato de Alvear, but officials are not sure whether the weapon ever reached its destination.

The gun will be sold at a Christie's auction on Sept 26 in London.
