"Beautiful Creatures" fantasy bestseller’s film trailer released

Hot on heels of the release of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" new trailer, another hotly anticipated book-adapted movie debuts its very first promotional video. It is none other than Richard LaGravenese's "Beautiful Creatures" which reveals its emotional first trailer for fans' viewing pleasure, AceShowbiz said.

Combining supernatural atmosphere and romance story, the trailer sees a young boy and a girl who try to be faithful to each other despite the fact that they are coming from two different worlds. Plenty of romantic scenes with a touch of fantasy are displayed in the video which has a very thick Southern Gothic theme.

The "Beautiful Creatures" novel (written by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl) is hailed the New York Times bestselling fantasy young adult book. It follows high-school student Ethan who meets and becomes bewitched by Lena. The 16-year-old girl moves to a small South Carolina town where the boy lives. The couple later must confront a curse that has haunted Lena's family for generations as she comes to grip with her powers.

Starring as Lena and Ethan are newcomers Alice Englert and Alden Ehrenreich respectively. Joining them in the cast ensemble are Jeremy Irons, Viola Davis, Emma Thompson, Emmy Rossum and Kyle Gallner.

The upcoming film has been deemed the next big thing after the "Twilight Saga" film series. Being in development since 2009, the movie was shot in New Orleans and is scheduled to hit theaters across the U.S. on February 13, 2013.
