Football's governing body FIFA will reveal the 23 finalists for the 2012 Golden Ball award on October 30, El Mundo Deportivo said.

The winner of the honorary award will be named on January 7, 2013 at Zurich-hosted ceremonial event.

The best payer will be selected through a vote of team captains, chief coaches and reporters.

The 2011 winner, Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi won the award 3 consecutive times.
