Levon Aronian retains 2nd spot in FIDE rankings

On October 1, FIDE published the list of strongest chess players of the world, placing Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian second with 2821 points.

Magnus Carlsen (Norway) tops the list; Russia’s Vladimir Kramnik is 3rd with 2795 points.

Armenian grandmaster Vladimir Akopian climbed 47th with 2703 points; Sergei Movsesian dropped to 52nd place with 2699 points; Gabriel Sargissian is 56th with 2692 points;

Armenia’s 2012 chess champion Tigran L. Petrosian comes 97th with 2659 points.
