Turkish soldier killed in PKK mine blast

One Turkish soldier was killed and another was injured in a land mine blast in Turkey’s southeastern province of Şırnak on Sunday, Sept 30.

According to Today’s Zaman, the blast took place while the security forces were sweeping mines. The land mine is suspected to have been planted by the outlawed from the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

Meanwhile, a villager has been killed by suspected PKK rebels in a village in the eastern province of Bitlis.

In a related development, three security officers were wounded when terrorists attacked Turkish security forces with rocket launchers on Sunday in Hatay's Kırıkhan district.

A further two military officers and a policeman were lost to a traffic accident in the eastern province of Tunceli on Monday when a car carrying the security personnel spun out of control and hurtled into a roadside ditch.
