Expert: Oskanian may be executed if Armenian people remain passive

Ex-foreign minister Vartan Oskanian’s fate depends on further actions of the Armenian people, according to a political expert.

“Okanian might even be executed, should Armenia’s society remain passive,” Yervand Bozoyan told a news conference in Yerevan.

“Persecution of Oskanian may boost the latter’s rating, making him a serious contender at presidential elections,” the expert said.

“The authorities are aware that major external pressure will be exerted in Oskanian case, so accusations against the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) leadership may follow,” he said.

In conclusion, Bozoyan urged to follow the suit of Georgia, where recent parliamentary polls proved the country’s adherence to democratic values.
