Armenia’s Medical-Social Expertise Agency head to be dismissed

Armenian Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs held a meeting on determination of disability status, with Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan present.

According to PM Sargsyan, 65 – 70 thous. people annually go to RA Medical-Social Expertise Agency, with determination of disability degree being a paid service.

“In most cases, the disabled know beforehand that they will have to pay for the service. I demand the Agency head immediately be dismissed from office,” the Prime Minister said, stressing the need for staff shifts.

He characterized the field as corrupt, with citizens sometimes having got disability status through mediators and acquaintances.

Head of RA Prime Minister’s Control Service Sargis Grigoryan further presented data, according to which disability determination costs from AMD 15-150 thous.
