Young Armenian-American conductor Tigran Arakelyan will be leading the California State University Northridge Symphony in Khachaturian’s Masquerade Suite.
As the conductor told PanARMENIAN.Net, the concert is scheduled for October 5 at 7:30pm in Northridge, CA.
Mr. Arakelyan holds conducting positions with Los Angeles Youth Orchestra, California State University Northridge Symphony, Northridge Youth Philharmonic, Echo Youth Orchestra, and Discovery Players (new music ensemble). He has previously conducted California Philharmonic, Cadence Chamber Orchestra (Seattle), Yakima Chamber Orchestra (WA), and Nimbus Ensemble (CA) among others.
In 2008 he played alongside James Galway during his induction into Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame. Mr. Arakelyan conducted the Pacific Northwest premiere of Paul Hindemith Kammermuzik Nr. 1 and has also premiered works by Iosif Andriasov, Jon Brenner, Arshak Andriasov, and Eleanor Aversa. As a flutist he has participated in Rochester Music Festival (NY), Dilijan Chamber Music Series (CA), World Fest (CA), and Idyllwild Music Festival (CA).
Mr. Arakelyan has played at well-known venues such as Hollywood Bowl and Walt Disney Concert Hall. His music studies are with Paul Taub, John Barcellona, Adam Stern, Bern Herbolsheimer, and Stephen Stubbs. Mr. Arakelyan is a recipient of many awards and scholarships in conducting and flute.
