Current leader favorite for presidency, NA vice speaker says

The parliament vice speaker is confident about the victory of current president, the leader of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Serzh Sargsyan at the 2013 presidential elections.

“With President Sargsyan as the main favorite, the candidates will be struggling for the “honorable second place”,” Eduard Sharmazanov told a news conference in Yerevan.

As Sharmazanov noted, the success of the RPA at local self-government elections proved the ruling party to be the highest-ranked in the country.

Commenting on Georgian opposition’s parliamentary victory, the speaker stressed the democratic elections, rather than the actual winner to be of importance, further citing Franklin Roosevelt’s four-time win at U.S. presidential polls.
