Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is due to visit Azerbaijan and Kuwait next week to attend two international conferences and hold meetings with different high-ranking world officials participating in the gatherings, Fars news agency reports.

Ahmadinejad will leave Tehran for Baku on Monday, Oct 15 to participate in the 12th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) leaders.

ECO is an intergovernmental regional organization established in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey with the aim of promoting economic, technical and cultural cooperation among the member states. The organization was expanded in 1992 to include seven new members: Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The Iranian president will then leave for Kuwait where he will attend the first summit of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD).
