On October 17, Newly-appointed Greek ambassador to Armenia Ioannis Tagis presented copies of credentials to Armenian Foreign Minster Edward Nalbandian.

Congratulating the envoy on the appointment, Minister Nalbandian voiced confidence that he will contribute to further strengthening of Armenian-Greek relations.

“Armenia attaches great importance to the deepening of centuries-old friendship between the two nations and common values of the intergovernmental cooperation with Greece,” he said.

Ambassador Tagis, in turn, pledged to take every effort for deepening of bilateral relations.

Armenian official confirmed the invitation to his Greek counterpart Dimitris Avramopoulos to visit Yerevan.

The parties discussed Armenia-EU relations, haling the progress recorded in the framework of the Eastern Partnership.

In this context, RA top diplomat noted that Brussels is planned to host the signing of preliminary agreement on visa facilitation with Armenia October 18, highly assessing the dynamics of the talks on free trade zone formation.

Minister Nalbandian and the Greek envoy further exchanged views on regional and international issues.
