U.S. envoy congratulates Armenian PM for advancement in WB report

A telephone conversation took place between Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and U.S. ambassador to Yerevan John Heffern, by the initiative of the latter.

Ambassador Heffern congratulated Prime Minister Sargsyan for the improvement of the World Bank “Doing Business” index, hailing Armenia’s significant progress (18 points) in this field.

He stressed the importance of developing the business environment to maintain sustainable economic growth in Armenia. He also highly assessed Armenian government’s efforts aimed at reforming the public administration system of the country and its resolution to bring the process of reforms to its completion.

Prime Minister Sargsyan, in turn, expressed his gratitude to the U.S. envoy, underscoring the importance of the technical assistance the U.S. government provided to Armenia.

Ambassador Heffern further mentioned the recorded positive developments in the systems of tax payment and investment protection, stressing the need for continuation of the measures taken.

Upon the end of the conversation, the envoy expressed the U.S. government‘s readiness to continue extension of technical assistance to the Armenian government for the implementation of its reform agenda and in particular for the further development of the country’s business environment.

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, in response, conveyed the Armenian government’s willingness to continue the cooperation, RA government official website reported.
