SCR puts Lori province railway bridge into operation

On October 25, South Caucasus Railways (SCR) opened traffic on the railway bridge on the 2,636th km of Shahali-Tumanyan span (Lori).

The bridge, popularly known as Devil's Bridge, was built in 1889, with the reconstruction of the building carried out since March 2012 as a part of the company's investment program for reconstruction of railway engineering structures. The amount of construction totaled AMD 250 million.

Adhering to the policy of supporting the Armenian business, SCR CJSC chose the Armenian bridge Kamurjshin construction company as the contractor for repair. Thus, during the construction a hydraulic jack was used instead of previously used crane.

It’s noteworthy that the Company also plans to open a two-span bridge on the 2626th km of Tumanyan-Kober span (Lori) by the end of 2012.

In April 2012, SCR CJSC put into operation the bridge over the gorge Zamanlu with a length of 216.86 meters and a height of 42.89 meters.

The Company continuous its extensive work to improve the infrastructure for traffic safety, speed and capacity of the traffic volumes, SCR press service reported.
