Acer delays Windows RT tablets launch over Surface

System builder Acer said it delayed the launch of its Windows RT tablets due to Microsoft's high profile launch of the Surface RT, The Inquirer reports.

Microsoft's decision to get into the hardware business is rumored to have angered traditional PC vendors such as Acer, Dell, HP and Lenovo. Now Acer said that it has delayed the launch of its Windows RT tablets due to Microsoft's promotion of its Surface RT tablet.

Acer president Jim Wong told Reuters, "Originally we had a very aggressive plan to come out very early next year but because of Surface, our R&D development doesn't stop, but we are much more cautious. Originally our plan was Q1, but now I don't think it will be earlier than Q2."
