Expert deems Syrian conflict Turkish domestic problem

Armenian political expert believes Syrian conflict to be sort of a domestic problem in Turkey.

According to Anush Hovhannisyan, Turkish-Syrian hostilities will further complicate the Kurdish problem.

“Cooperation of Syria’s Kurdish community with Assad forces may affect the balance of power,” the expert said.

“First, Ankara’s decision to attack Syria will unite Kurds against Turkey; second, Turkish population stands against launching offensive against Syria; and third, Turkish involvement in the issue alone will bring about major regional problems,” Ms. Hovhannisyan said, deeming Turkey’s offensive against Syria possible only in support of NATO forces.
