2 Palestinian militants killed in Israeli strike on Gaza

Two Palestinian militants were killed in an Israeli air strike on the Gaza Strip on Sunday, November 11 in retaliation to the shelling of Israel with rocket and mortar fire, the Israeli military said, according to RIA Novosti.

Overnight, the Israeli military launched a series of air raids on Gaza City after militants fired an anti-tank missile at an Israeli jeep near the Karni crossing along the border east of Gaza City on Saturday evening, wounding four Israeli soldiers. Military sources said two of the soldiers were in grave condition.

In response, Israel fired a barrage of artillery fire and shells, killing four people and wounding 25, mostly civilians, Palestinian medical officials said.

In another air strike that struck the north-west of the Gaza Strip early on Sunday, two militants from Islamic Jihad were killed. The Israeli military said the air strike targeted a group of militants who had fired rockets on areas in southern Israel.

About 40 Palestinian rockets have hit Israeli since late Saturday, slightly injuring three people, the Israeli military said.
