France may engage in Armenia’s new power unit construction

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met with French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault as part of his official visit to Paris.

President Sargsyan noted development of trade and economic relations and growth of turnover as a priority, hailing French investments in Armenia.

The two men stressed the importance of the Armenian-French Business Club established in 2011, highly assessing French Development Agency’s program in agriculture and private sectors, as well as water industry.

The involvement of French companies in Armenia’s energy programs, particularly in the new power unit construction, was further discussed.

French Prime Minister voiced readiness to assist in the establishment of free economic zones in Armenia. The two officials also dwelt on French companies’ engagement in telecommunications industry, construction of Armenia’s north-south highway and development of the pension sector.

Deepening of Armenian-French culture relations, as well as French contribution to development of RA-EU cooperation were also on agenda.
