CRIMEA RECOGNITION OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE MAY DAMP TURKISH-UKRAINIAN RELATIONS
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry intends to express its attitude toward the acknowledgement of the Armenian Genocide by the Parliament of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (ARC). The Crimean Parliament adopted the decision yesterday, May 19. Upon the completion of the session of the ARC Supreme Rada, Ukrainian MP Refat Chubarov got in touch with the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry leadership and sent a letter to Minister Boris Tarasyuk, asking him to respond to the decision of the Crimean parliamentarians. "It is clear that the passing of the document in question will result in the respective response by the Turkish official bodies," - Chubarov writes in his letter. "As head of the deputy group of interparliamentary ties with the Turkish Republic I would consider appropriate Ukrainian central bodies taking measures aiming at preventing the appearance of causes for misunderstanding in the relations of Ukraine with Turkey," the message says, Regnum news agency reported.
