NATO DEVELOPS COOPERATION WITH SOUTH CAUCASIAN AND CENTRAL ASIAN PARTNERS
The NATO intensifies relations with partners in the South Caucasus and Central Asia, NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer stated today. In his words, the NATO has "to view some regions from a joint trans-Atlantic point of view." "It is justified in case of the Caucasus, Central Asia and the Near East," the NATO Sec. Gen. added. "The search for ways of influence upon positive developments in these region should have the nature of joint trans-Atlantic efforts, otherwise chances for success are little," he added. He also noted, "we use the NATO to stimulate the trans-Atlantic approach in question."
