Yerevan takes best efforts to help Syrian Armenians – Prime Minister

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan commented on the impact of Syria crisis on Armenia in an interview with Interfax.

"Syria crisis is affecting Armenia for 2 reasons: first, because of territorial proximity and friendly ties with Syria and second, because of the country's Armenian population, which we can't help being concerned about," he said.

As the Prime Minister noted in this context, Yerevan has to take steps to alleviate Syrian Armenians' burden. “We're trying to help to the best of our abilities. Many of them are middle class citizens being forced to start from point zero, having lost their businesses,” he said.

As the official noted, about 6000 Armenians left Syria since the outbreak of the crisis.
