Sony resumes Xperia Tablet S sales

Sony has resumed sales of its Xperia Tablet S one month after pulling it from the market, Digital Spy said.

The company withdrew the slate in early October after discovering a build defect that allowed moisture to seep in between its screen and casing.

Sony previously confirmed on its Japanese website that the product would gradually return to stores in November, a promise it kept with just days to spare.

Sony had already distributed around 100,000 Xperia S tablets in Europe, the US and Japan when the flaw was detected, but honoured a free inspection and repairs agreement for users affected by the issue.

Running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the tablet is powered by a speedy NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor and is backed by an extensive media library courtesy of the Sony Entertainment Network.

The Sony Xperia Tablet S retailed in the UK from £329, with the price tag climbing for models with higher memory.
