R.E.M.’s "That Someone is You" video features Anne Hathaway

Alt-rock icons R.E.M. split more than a year ago, but thanks to James Franco they have not been forgotten, The Hollywood Reporter said.

A couple weeks ago we saw a video for R.E.M.'s Patti Smith collaboration, "Blue," from the band’s final album, 2011’s Collapse Into Now, directed by the multi-talented Franco. It starred Lindsay Lohan mid-photo shoot with Terry Richardson as well as a host of other iconic Los Angeles imagery on Super-8 film.

Now another Franco-directed video has been released. This time for R.E.M.’s "That Someone is You" from the same album. It’s a fun jaunting of behind-the-scenes footage from his and Anne Hathaway's pretty spot-on Grease skit from the 2011 Oscars (that ended up being cut from the original telecast), but there is a small, strange catch: Hathaway's face is covered throughout the video by a giant cat's head. That's presumably to avoid any legal dilemmas or management tangles but it also recalls the L.A. hip-hop freak-out troupe Odd Future's aesthetic cat infatuation.

Franco's "That Someone is You" video was released just in time for the 25th anniversary of the band's "The One I Love" entering the U.K. singles chart in 1987.
