Google has declared it has no plans to bring its app-based services to Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8, Digital Spy reported.

The internet giant dismissed reports that it has ruled out developing from the platform, but informed uses not to expect native Gmail or Calendar apps any time soon.

"We have no plans to build out Windows apps," Google Apps product manager Clay Bavor told V3. "We are very careful about where we invest and will go where the users are, but they are not on Windows Phone or Windows 8."

But Bavor was quick to point out that Google Apps for Windows 8 devices have not been ruled out, admitting that his company's stance could change if the platform's marketshare increased.

"If that changes, we would invest there, of course," he added.

Google Apps includes Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, Calendar. A native Google Search app was previously released for Windows 8 and its Chrome browser has been available since launch.

Last night, Google released a new native Google Maps app for iOS devices, ending months of speculation about the service's future on the App Store.
