Brussels hosted Armenia-EU cooperation council sitting Monday, December 17, with Armenian delegation led by Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian participating.

EU delegation was led by Cypriot Foreign Minister Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis, whose country holds the rotating EU presidency, and European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle.

The sitting focused on Armenia-EU cooperation, with partnership development prospects and regional issues discussed.

According to Mr. Nalbandian, relations with the EU are among priorities on Armenia’s foreign policy agenda.

The official also thanked the EU for assistance to Armenia-conducted reforms in legal, democracy and human rights sectors.

Ms. Kozakou-Marcoullis and Mr. Fule, in turn, expressed support for democratic and economic reforms implemented in Armenia, also hailing progress in the country’s ties with the EU.

In conclusion, the Armenian official briefed those present on recent developments in Karabakh conflict settlement, thanking the EU for assistance to OSCE Minsk Group efforts for peaceful solution of the issue, foreign ministry press service reported.
