Expert forecasts serious conflict within ruling authorities

Positions of the Armenian oligarchs are gradually weakening, Regional Studies Center head said.

“The ruling authorities have finally realized that oligarchs are their top enemies,” Richard Giragosian said.

Dwelling on Armenia’s parliamentary elections, the expert noted that they reflected the current political landscape.

He noted that the forthcoming elections will be held in a noncompetitive atmosphere, voicing confidence for incumbent Armenian president to win a second term.

The expert further deemed breakout of a serious conflict among the ruling authorities possible following the presidential polls, attributing the problem to the current political system.
