The Venezuelan opposition has called for a comprehensive medical checkup for President Hugo Chavez, according to The Voice of Russia.

The opposition seeks to know whether his health is good enough for him to perform his duties and claims that official reports about the President’s health condition are vague.

Opposition supporters urged the Supreme Court to order creation of a special medical commission to certify the Chavez’s health and to send a group of MPs to Cuba where he is recovering from his fourth cancer surgery.

Before leaving for Havana, he named Vice President and Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro his successor.
