US TO PROVIDE $5 MILLION EACH TO YEREVAN AND BAKU AS MILITARY ASSISTANCE IN 2006
The US will allocate $5 million to each Armenia and Azerbaijan asForeign Military Financing in Fiscal Year 2006. The House of Representatives has passed this decision at a meeting Tuesday evening. The House approved its version of the Foreign Operations bill by a vote of 393 to 32. According to the Information Service of the US State Department, the Foreign Military Financing Program is a "US foreign policy important tool for promoting US interests worldwide." Within the framework of the program "is for financing through grants or loans the acquisition of U.S. military articles, services, and training, supports U.S. regional stability goals and enables friends and allies to improve their defense capabilities." After the bill is passed by the House, it has to be reconciled with the Senate version. The consideration of the latter started by the Appropriations Committee Tuesday, reported Trend.
