"Gangster Squad" crime drama new clips feature Ryan Gosling

After a year-long absence, Ryan Gosling makes his return to the big screen in Ruben Fleischer's "Gangster Squad" and new clips show he won't disappoint any fans gained from 2011's "Drive," MSN reported citing TheWrap.

Much like Nicolas Winding Refn's critically-acclaimed crime drama, Gosling will be punching plenty of faces in his latest role as Sgt. Jerry Wooters.

Josh Brolin, who plays the leader of the LAPD task force responsible for taking down hoodlum Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn), also has a pair of dangerous fists. While Gosling single-handedly takes down two thugs threatening his lady friend, played by Emma Stone, Brolin is able to dispose of three.

The action-packed period piece was originally scheduled to open last September, but the Aurora shootings led Warner Bros. to reshoot parts of the film and, as a result, push the release date back. "Gangster Squad" arrives in theaters on Jan. 11.
