Armenian grandmaster Hrant Melkumyan scored 7 points out of 9 to share 3-5 places with Maxim Turov (Russia) and Edouard Romain (France) at the rapid open in Basel, Switzerland. Melkumyan came 5th with additional points.

International master Eric Hansen (Canada) and grandmaster Mateusz Bartel (Poland) scored 7,5 points each, with Hansen winning in the tie-break.
