Iran supports Assad’s peace plan

Iran has endorsed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s peace plan that would promote stability and security in the country, Iran's vice-president Mohammad-Reza Rahimi has said.

As The Voice of Russia reported, the ISNA news agency has cited Mr. Rahimi as calling for a meeting between Iran and Syria. He said he hoped to see Syria’s prime minister pay a visit to Tehran in the near future.

Iran is the first country to throw support behind Assad’s peace initiative. Its foreign chief, Ali Akbar Salehi, has recently urged all parties concerned to use this opportunity to put an end to bloodshed and stop the conflict from engulfing the entire region.
