Expert hopes for Georgian PM visit to advance Chakhalyan’s case

New Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili’s visit to Yerevan will significantly affect bilateral ties, as well as regional developments, deputy director of Caucasus Institute said.

“New Georgian leadership’s intention to boost ties with Russia will positively influence the country’s relations with Armenia,” Sergey Minasyan told a January 15 news conference.

The expert further dwelled on recent amnesty in Georgia, noting that 3 Armenian-Georgian activists have already been released.

He also expressed hope that Ivanishvili’s visit will be followed by a breakthrough in Vahagn Chakhalyan’s case, with the leader of United Javakhk Democratic Alliance released during the Prime Minister’s visit Armenia.
