Samsung has unveiled a television set with a curved OLED display at CES 2013, Digital Spy said.

The 55-inch display, which was a prototype model, is said to provide the ideal platform for panoramic viewing and taking in nature scenes.

"As a leader in the development of television technology Samsung consistently delivers ground-breaking products that surpass customers' expectations," said Samsung vice president Robert King.

"Our commitment to drive technological innovation that enhances people's lives is set to continue even beyond the World's First Curved OLED TV."

Samsung was not the only tech company to show off television hardware with a curved screen at CES. LG unveiled the 55EM9700, a set designed to offer viewers a more cinema-like experience.

The Korean tech giant is also experimenting with the possibility of using curved screen technology for future tablets and smartphones.
