Rocket hits building in Syria’s Aleppo, causes many casualties

Syrian state media say a rocket has slammed into building in the northern city of Aleppo, causing many casualties.

According to The Associated Press, the state-run SANA news agency says rebels fired a rocket on Friday, Jan 18 morning, hitting a building in a government-controlled area of the city, Syria's largest. The number of dead and wounded was not immediately clear.

On Tuesday, 87 people, most of them students, were killed at Aleppo University in twin blasts that struck as students were taking their exams. Each side blames the other for the attack. The regime said rebels hit the university with rockets. Rebels say the deaths resulted from a regime airstrike.
