The recent statement of French president Jacques Chirac on the necessity to settle the Nagorno Karabakh conflict via mutual agreements between Armenia and Azerbaijan is evidence of official Baku diplomatic failure. As reported by "Arminfo" agency, said leader of Democratic party of Azerbaijan Sardar Jalaloghlu when commenting on Chirac's statement at a joint press conference with Vladimir Putin in Paris. Leader of another opposition party - "Musavat" - Isa Ghambar considers such a situation to be a consequence of Heydar Aliyev's foreign policy failure. Opposition leaders also note that until now Heydar Aliyev has widely advertised his friendship with Jacques Chirac, calling him an influential European politician, who frankly wishes a "fair" settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
