"Warm Bodies" zombie romcom claims box-office victory

"Warm Bodies" claims victory on North American box office during the Super Bowl weekend. The supernatural romantic comedy movie about a zombie-turned-human opens on the top spot of the chart with around $19.5 million on its debut weekend. However, the film's result marks a 26% declining from last year's Super Bowl weekend when "Chronicle" opened to $22 million, AceShowbiz said.

The Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer-starring movie nabs a "B+" CinemaScore from the audience. It attracts to mostly female audience which make up 60% of the ticket buyers. Around 65% of them are under the age of 25.

Last week's winner "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" drops to the runner-up spot with an estimated $9.2 million, dropping 44% from last week. It bags a total domestic cume of $34.4 million after two weeks of playing Stateside. Oscar-nominated "Silver Linings Playbook", meanwhile, adds around $8.1 million to its total gross of $80.3 million domestically. The dramedy stays on the third spot this week.

Placing fourth and fifth respectively are two Jessica Chastain-starring movies, "Mama" and "Zero Dark Thirty (2012)". The former collects around $6.7 million this week for a total revenue of $58.2 million, while the latter adds an estimated $5.3 million for a total gross of $77.7 million. On the other hand, Sylvester Stallone's "Bullet to the Head" debuts soft on the sixth spot with approximately $4.5 million. It attracts mostly older audience with 81% of the ticket buyers are over the age of 25.
