Constitutional Court says it will accept Hayrikyan’s application Feb 10

Armenian presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan may address the Constitutional Court with a request to delay the presidential polls for 2 weeks by Sunday, Feb 10.

In conversation with a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, the court spokesman Hovhannes Papikyan said the application will be accepted, despite a day-off.

Mr Papikyan further noted that Hayrikyan had not yet submitted an application to the court.

Earlier, candidate Hayrikyan’s election headquarters head Manya Ayvazyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter that an application will be filed, with a request to consider it on Feb 10.

The Article 52 of Constitution stipulates for a 2-week delay in presidential poll if insurmountable difficulties prevent one of the candidates from running for the post. In case of a candidate’s death, new elections are scheduled to be held in 40 days.
