Oslo hosts concert to honor memory of Sumgait pogroms

A piano concert in honor of the victims of the Armenian pogroms in Sumgait, Azerbaijan (in February 1988), was organized by the Armenian community of Norway.

The event that took place in Kampen Church in Oslo, featured a presentation on Azerbaijan's policy and links between the state-sponsored pogroms against in Sumgait in 1988 and anti-Armenian hate propaganda as well as persecution of author Akram Aylisli for his book Stone Dreams.

The importance of international recognition of crimes against humanity was emphasized.

Then, Mariam Kharatyan, a talented young musician from Yerevan State Conservatory and University of Agder, performed works by Mozart, Schubert, Rachmaninov, Chopin, Grieg and Babajanyan.
