“Silver Linings” helmer on next projects with Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper

The Academy Awards can be a bit bittersweet for filmmakers and actors because it can often mark the last time a cast will get together to celebrate a film. But Silver Linings Playbook director David O. Russell doesn't have to feel quite so sad because his two stars -- Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence -- will be working with him again on his next projects, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Russell will next work with Cooper on an untitled drama that will film in New York and Boston in March. Then, Lawrence will star in the drama The Ends of the Earth, a Weinstein Co. film about an oil tycoon who has everything stripped from him after he is caught in an affair.

“Bradley came on first. He and I really wanted to work together," Russell tells The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet at the Oscars. "We have a process we’re very comfortable with and that we feel very inspired by. We want to do a lot of damage creatively."

Russell adds that both Cooper and Lawrence are "going to play roles that will really surprise people."

"They’re going to play people that people don’t expect them to play. And that’s my privileged as a director to get to do that with them," says Russell.

Silver Linings Playbook received eight Oscar nominations, including best picture, director and leading actor and actress nominations for Cooper and Lawrence.

Russell tells THR he won't be taking any time to decompress after what's been a very busy awards season for him.

"I'm very happy to be going back to work tomorrow," he says. "That’s how you keep yourself from having postpartum depression -- you go right back to work."
