NBC is getting a dose of The Hunger Games. Hunger Games standout Amandla Stenberg, who played Rue, will co-star in NBC's half-hour single-camera comedy starring Craig Robinson, The Hollywood Reporter said.
From executive producers Owen Ellickson and Greg Daniels, the untitled comedy pilot centers on Craig (Robinson), a talented musician who adjusts to his new life as a middle school music teacher, where he maneuvers precocious kids, teacher politics and the temptation of single moms.
Stenberg will play Irene, a spunky, fearless and smart eighth grader who is desperate to learn to sing despite her terribly off-key voice and Craig's reluctance to teach her. Amanda Lund and Larenz Tate co-star.
Executive producers are Ellickson -- who also will write -- Daniels, Howard Klein, Tracy Katsky-Boomer and Mark Schulman. Robinson will produce, while Steve Pink is set to direct.
Repped by WME and Schiff Co., Stenberg will also be voicing a character in Rio 2.
