Armenian parliament speaker: recent resignations moral step

Armenian National Assembly speaker Hovik Abrahamyan doesn’t deem the defeat of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) candidate in 70 rural communities as a normal index.

Dwelling on the resignations of the community and province heads following Feb 18 presidential elections, Hovik Abrahamyan said the ruling party didn’t force them to resign.

“I slam the idea suggesting the mayor of the city where our candidate lost must send in resignation. The community head is not to blame for it. The government will take the decision,” parliament speaker said, noting resignations as a moral step.
