ALMA to host presentation of Armenia travel guide

On the occasion of the publication of the third edition of his travel guide for Armenia and Karabakh, author and photographer Matthew Karanian will give a presentation at the Armenian Library and Museum of America (ALMA) on Sunday, March 10, speaking about the creation of the book, with anecdotes from his decade of research and illustrated with photographs from the new guidebook.

Karanian takes the reader off the beaten path with his photographs of ancient sites rarely seen by tourists to environmental treasures such as Shikahogh, Teghut, and Sevan. Karanian will also present images from the ancient Diasporan community of Jerusalem, a community that will be the subject of his future book. Many of the book's photographs were created along with co-photographer Robert Kurkjian, ALMA said in a press release.

Matthew Karanian is a native of New Britain, CT. He practiced law for about a dozen years in Hartford, and he now has his own law firm in Pasadena, CA. Karanian first traveled to Armenia in 1995, to work at the American University of Armenia (AUA).
