Football coach: no new players for “difficult” vacancies

Armenian football team chief coach Vardan Minasyan has recently been following Antalya-hosted practice sessions and matches of foreign and Armenian teams, with candidates for the national squad participating.

The coach said he watched the trainings and matches of 4 clubs (Pyunik, Shirak, Gandzasar and Ulisses) hailing the preparedness of the players.

“I’ve also watched matches of FC Pakhtakor Tashkent, with Zhora Hovhannisyan participating. Though he made a good impression, we have great selection for midfielders. For this reason, he won’t be invited for the qualifying match against Czech Republic,” Armenian Football Federation quoted Minasyan as saying.

“There are no skilled players for the difficult vacancies. The squads include promising young footballers, who, however, are not ready to join the national team. We will have to invite many players for the upcoming trainings. Only after testing and comparing the players, we will be able to make the best choice,” he said.
