Levon Aronian retains 3rd spot in FIDE rankings

On February 1, FIDE published the list of strongest chess players of the world, with Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian retaining third spot with 2809 points.

Magnus Carlsen (Norway) tops the list with 2872 points followed by Russia’s Vladimir Kramnik with 2810 points. Armenian grandmaster Vladimir Akopian is 45th with 2704 points; Sergei Movsesian dropped 60th with 2695 points; Gabriel Sargissian climbed 78th with 2666 points.

Armenia’s 2013 chess champion Tigran Petrosian comes 81st with 2663 points.
