Facebook is set to unveil changes to its News Feed later this week. Members of the press have been invited to the company's California headquarters on Thursday (March 7) for an announcement, Digital Spy reported citing Neowin.

The social networking site sent out an invitation on Friday (March 1) teasing the information. The invite simply said: "Come see a new look for News Feed."

It is thought that the changes will be of importance considering the decision to hold a press event. The last major changes to the site's News Feed came in September 2011.

These saw posts ordered in terms of importance rather than by most recent. The change was met with opposition from users, which prompted Facebook to give users the option of ordering posts in chronological order a few months later.

The social networking giant was targeted by 'sophisticated' hackers last month, but it was confirmed that no user data was compromised in the attack.
