Aronian to face Carlsen in Candidates Tournament round 1

FIDE has held a draw for the participants of the World Chess Candidates Tournament due March 14 in London.

According to the draw, Levon Aronian will start the tournament, to play two matches with white figures.

Aronian will face off against Norway’s Magnus Carlsen.

The rest of the pairings were drawn as follows:

Boris Gelfand (Israel)-Teimour Radjabov (Azerbaijan), Vassily Ivanshuk (Ukraine)-Alexaner Grischuk (Russia), Peter Svidler-Vladimir Kramnik (Russia).
