Latvia ready to share experience of integration into European structures
"The states aspired to join the European Union should accept the values and principles the EU is based upon," Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga stated when commenting on the prospects of opening the borders with Armenia and establishment of the Armenian-Turkish diplomatic relations within the EU-Turkey talks framework. "The candidates for the European Union should be unanimous in comprehension of history and develop constructive relations with the neighbors", the Latvian President stated on the threshold of her visit to Yerevan. "Armenia has chosen European values and we are interested in cooperation on the Armenia-EU Action Plan within EU New Neighborhood Policy by conveying our experience of integrating into the European structures", she added. When touching upon the Armenia-NATO relations the Latvian President noted, "There exist some essential standards. Interchangeability of army is one of these standards.
