Bundestag President visits Armenian Genocide memorial

The delegation led by President of the Bundestag Norbert Lammert visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex on March 6.

They laid flowers at the memorial and observed a moment of silence in honor of the memory of Genocide victims. The delegation further visited the Genocide Museum-Institute and familiarized itself with the documents showcased.

Norbert Lammert left the following note in the memory book, “The present generation must reap lessons from the past experiences when building their future.”

“In 2005, Bundestag took a decision on 1915 events. The step was taken, in consideration of Germany’s past. Criticism of your own history is vital to decision-making for the sake of common good,” he told a press briefing.
