Tom Arnold has been cast in director Derick Martini's The Curse of Downers Grove.

The indie thriller is an adaptation of the Michael Hornburg novel of the same name.

Arnold has been tapped to play the role of an abusive father who supplies his athletic son with steroids, Digital Spy reported citing Variety.

The Curse of Downers Grove follows a nervous high school senior who fears a curse that takes the life of a school student each year.

Arnold joins an ensemble cast which includes Bella Heathcote (In Time, Dark Shadows), Lucas Till (Walk the Line) and Kevin Zegers (Dawn of the Dead).

Derick Martini and Bret Easton Ellis co-wrote the script for The Curse of Downers Grove, and Oren Segal, Jason Dubin and Chiara Trento are all on board to produce the feature.

The film is slated to be released in the US and the UK during 2014.
